Big Beauty from National Panasonic before the Technics brand name took over. 1972 High Quality Build here. Big amp "Looks" like a 75w Receiver & a Heavy One too. But it's 19w x 4. It's NOT Bridgeable. It sounds more than 19w on Speakers for the Clean Loud Precise Sound.
This Amp Sounds as Great as it Looks. Very Clean Sound, Great on High Efficient 95dB Tannoy Golds but it is 19w per Channel. Quadraphonic Receivers pre 1973 didn't have Bridging as 1973 ones often did. This is No Cheaply Made Cost Cut Effort, Look at the Quality, nearly 15kg weight. See how Great the Fascia looks lit up.
Multivoltage with the Selector underneath. 110, 120, 220 & 240v. The Speaker connectors take 2mm Bare wires & tighten onto the inserted wire. These aren't regular 4mm Plugs if they may look like them. Phono is 2ch, Aux & 3 sets of Tape are 4ch. There is no 4ch Decoder fitted as these were External Units.
Use it as a Stereo 19w amp with Phono & Tuner. There is a working extra 2ch amp as this is a 4 channel amp. The 'Mode' switch on the right offers Out of Phase options, the AFD sliders are only really useful with True 4ch. Classy Green & Red display with Lettering in Lights is very Smart looking. Power Switch is lit. What a Great Amp. Pity it's only 4 x 19w.
Recapped on Most beyond Tuner. Power Supply upgraded & some of the 4ch effects board underneath recapped. The Longer Board under is the 4ch Preamp which is Recapped & Upgraded. the Sunken Board is Phono & the effects Board, all works fine.
Includes the Remote 4ch Balancer as pictured, SH-1010 in Good Condition & working. What it does is makes the 4 small Rotary Controls around the Main Volume work Remotely & to use the Joystick moves the Sound around, as can be heard using Headphones Front & Rear separately, to see it works. User Manual included, in a few languages, no service circuits info in it though.
The Quite Rare early National Panasonic gear is better Quality than the Technics range that arrived by c.1975, as with most brands post 1974 they get cost cut. This appearently was rebadged 'Technics'. The SA-8400X service manual is just about the same as the 6400X beyond the 8400X being higher power.
All Sounds & works Great, FM plays Stereo with ease, new 3-Core Mains Cable, new taller Rubber feet. High Grade Fascia has the odd mark on the top edge & as you'd expect from an Amp that was 'Obsolete' by 1976 as 4ch failed, just a little marking on the Tuning & Volume knobs from long storage.
A larger sized amp 453mm wide x 154mm high x 372mm deep if 400mm Max Depth inc fittings.
THE AMP ITSELF WEIGHS ABOUT 14.8KG
