High Quality Tandy & Radio Shack Brand Designed & Made by HITACHI & it's based on the Hitachi SR-1100 receiver & IA-1000 amplifier as seen on our "Sold Amps Gallery" page.
Very Rare Receiver, if we have the higher power STA-220 that we're keeping as a Reference Amp as it's such a good one. Both better the SR-1100 & IA-1000 for amp design if were designed within a year of those as our STA-220 & STA-150 reviews show.
In comparing amps June 2017, this & the STA-220 we keep as a reference have a very open lively sound that can match a lot of speakers as it has the Midrange control. Not the usual Realistic quality, the pre 1975 Realistic are high quality sound, this made & designed by Hitachi is one of the great 'lost' amps. Note we keep the STA-220 as a Reference, it's a really great amp.
Aug 2017 we refinished just the top lid front edge as it was blotchy stained. Now looks much better as you can see.
All Works Fine. FM Stereo plays with ease, the Tuner Pointer & Meter section change lights on Tuning & receiving Stereo. A great FM Tuner here, very precise sounding.
All Recapped on all but Tuner, so RECAPPING & lots of UPGRADES as we did to our STA-220 to compare them. Recapped Power Supply, Power Amp, Preamp & Phono stage with a lot of Upgrades to bring the best out. all the Phono, Preamp & Power Amp transistors upgraded if the original 2SD180 output transistors.
Sound Quality is Excellent, High Excellent even, that's why we keep the similar STA-220. 32.5w is a modest rating & in comparing to the 60w STA-220 the sound is the same if just the 60w version has more 'kick' as you'd expect with nearly double the Power. If you want one of our Best Receivers, here's your chance. For the amount of work & upgrades in this £495 is great value, if in pefect grade it'd be £600+
Condition is decent, not perfect as shown. The 'Black' fascia is more a charcoal grey in daylight & just a few marks by the Volume sliders. The top lid is in good physical condition, a heavyweight well made lid here with the odd small chip or dent. The Front left top corner-edge has some colour staining, we've very quickly tidied it a bit if it could be refinished better. We've fitted 4mm Speaker Posts (no bare wire holes) as the original screws were hopeless to use with any of our other Speaker connector options as on the Main Sales Page, so these are far more useable. Rewired with 3-core Mains with Earth.
This has the original bulbs in, but with new LED bulbs it looks even better. See HERE for LED bulb info with pics linked.
A larger sized amp 480mm wide x 140mm high x 354mm deep if 388mm Max Depth inc fittings.
THE AMP ITSELF WEIGHS ABOUT 11KG
