1969 PIONEER SX-440 RECEIVER

IN NICE VISUAL & GREAT WORKING CONDITION.

12W. SERVICED & RECAPPED WITH UPGRADES

12W ON 95dB SPEAKERS ACTUALLY PLAYS A DECENT VOLUME FOR TV SOUND. IT'S NOT ENOUGH POWER FOR ROCKING THE HOUSE, BUT IT CERTAINLY WILL SUIT REGULAR LISTENING. NOT FOR WEEDY 84dB SPEAKERS, IT NEEDS MORE SENSITIVE ONES.

THE AMPLIFIER PART BASED ON 1966 PIONEER IF ONLY USED 1969 AS A LOWER POWERED MODEL. THE CASE IS IN 1969 STYLING WITH A COATED PERSPEX BLACK FRONT PANEL. LIGHTS WE MADE BRIGHTER BY PAINTING THE LIGHT BOX INSIDE WHITE, AS IT WAS RATHER DIM.

WE'VE RECAPPED & UPGRADED THIS ON ALL BUT TUNER TO SOUND SURPRISINGLY GOOD WITH CLEAN TREBLE & A FULL BASS THAT YOU'D NOT EXPECT FROM 12W. USERS OF 100W AMPS ON HIGHER SENSITIVITY SPEAKERS RARELY GO OVER 10W ON AMPS WITH METERS, 12W WILL SUIT MANY USERS. IT DID SOUND RATHER WEAK, AS IN PIONEER WERE UNDERSELLING IT, BUT TO GIVE IT SOME QUALITY SHOWS WHAT IT'S HIDING.

HIGH GRADE AMP WITH SMART TEAK WOOD VENEER LID, JUST THAT CHIP ON THE REAR RIGHT TOP EDGE, YOU COULD FILL IT IF WE COLOURED IT TO NOT SHOW MUCH. FASCIA IS HIGH GRADE WITH NO LETTERING LOSSES, THE BASS & TREBLE CONROL KNOB ENDS FADED SLIGHTLY.

FM TUNER PLAYS IN STEREO WITH 'STEREO' LIGHT, AM PLYS WELL. PHONO STAGE HAS IT'S OWN PREAMP, AUX INTO THE PRE-TONE STAGE, NOT THRU PHONO. HAS THE ORIGINAL SPEAKER PLUGS WHICH GO £35+ A SET ON EBAY. WE COULD FIT 4MM SOCKETS BUT IT'S QUITE A JOB TO DO.

We are Qualified Electronics Engineers with over 20 years experience of Amplifiers. All amps over 20 years old need servicing as parts need attention to work properly or faults, failures, damage, noisy operation and unreliability may be present. Any faults we can repair & our work is of a very high quality. On each listing we put at least 12 large clear photos of all aspects of the item including the insides.
