A Rarer Sony Receiver, Never Sold in The UK at the Time. For Sure a Sleeper.

The Adverts Way Undersold this one, it's a Real 70w RMS Per Channel Receiver, not the 50w one they claim to more Limited Frequencies on the Original Limited Spec. Usual Sony Multivoltage, under a small cover front midway on the top inside. 50/75µsec FM switch, UK uses the 50µsec.

It's also the 1970 Sony STR-6200F in the smaller case like the 1967 STR-6060FW, STR 6050 etc used. Only the STR-6120 & STR-6200F were the larger size.

Has a 6.3mm Stereo Jack Socket on the Front as "Aux 2" to plug in Modern Devices via a suitable cable.

The STR-6065 is basically the STR-6200F with the Better Updated Tuner the STR-6055 has. Ceramic FM Filters give a very clean FM Stereo. Power Amp & Power Supply the same, the 6200F uses the Regulator Spece for the older Tuner. Same Preamp on a smaller Board.

Knowing the STR-6055 Tuner more, the STR-6065 here picks up stations across the FM dial, if we couldn't get 'Stereo' to light or Stereo FM to play, so assume it could be better aligned. AM works. Phono works. Rewired with 3-Core Mains cable as usual. Tuner has 75 ohm & 300 ohm FM antenna inputs.

Great Sounding Amp in Decent Condition. Early Differential Design, has no Noise Issues on Turn on & just fades away on turn off. Photo shows it set up for 'Aux' use, all the Lever Switches to understand as is Sony usually. All Adjusted, Biased & Run In for Hours as well as Used by us on Speakers & Headphones.

A Few Visual issues, the Printed Lettering isn't perfect & to keep it not look silly being written in just added a few letters plus On/Off. Odds of finding a perfect fascia are probably unlikely. The Volume control pot is original, just lacks one of the Spline Rod halves, a bit of wood put in long ago makes it work fine & it's even in Rotation, it pulls off like the original. One of the Round Lever Switch ends was missing, we put the High Filter with a replacement Solid Metal one that looks OK & is glued on with Resin. These can be found sometimes on ebay USA if the price is too high for Postage.

This had oversize capacitors originally, to keep it more reliable to use modern smaller 22000µf ones not larger value ones that are slower to charge. All Recapped & Upgraded, we put a better set of Output Transistors with Higher Rating, originally they were not with enough 'headroom' on a 70w amp. Rear Antenna is in good condition, not cracked brackets.
