1973 YAMAHA CA-1000 AMPLIFIER
IN DECENT VISUAL & GREAT WORKING CONDITION. 70W + 15W CLASS A. SERVICED & RECAPPED WITH UPGRADES READ MORE ON OUR "HIFI REVIEWS" PAGE Multivoltage 240v, 220v, 110v etc. AC Outlets. Rewired 3 Core Mains. Connectors as Original. The First in a Strong Range Of Yamaha Amps from 1973-77. This one 70w standard mode & 15w Class A. This one we've had a few years. Came as a Non Worker in 2018 needing Two New Output Capacitors, 33000uf ones. Was missing some of the Front Control pieces so we gradually bought them in to Complete it. Recently found an original Bass Control Pot of the correct type as it wasn't perfect, the odds of finding some of these pieces are pretty rare. Condition is Nice, a rear right corner chip & slight right top-edge chip. Fascia is nice with one light mark under the High Filter switch. Wood has a few tiny stains as Patina plus typical light marks if nothing much, shows as washed & oiled. Wood colour still rich. The Dot on the left grille is there. The Phono Inputs are Plated on Copper, these on the CA & CR-1000 tend to go grey but work fine. Seems the original owner used Class A in an unventilated cabinet so they didn't get much use from it as the big capacitor failed explaining the replaced ones. Class A gets Hot in use as designed, whether it brings much improvement is more an idea 'it is better' than it being any different. To use Normal mode recommended. All Quiet in Use, Turn On, Turn Off, Filter, Mute, Class A. Phono is MM & MC with a Rear Switch to select. Mic is 2x 6.3mm Mono Jacks. Early Yamaha relays not quite perfected, it can turn on, a slight noise-hiss as it's not quite ready, the relay goes off & then back on again quick enough. It's only minor so we left it rather than adding a longer delay. New LED as Power Light, not overbright. Class A Microswitches replaced. Three Core Mains cable added. Inside is mostly hidden in several metal cases, All Recapped & Upgraded on Tone-Pre, Filter, Power Amps & Power Supply. Outputs are higher rated new 'MJ' series ones. A Nice Sounding Amp with Good Power at 70w. This is basically the Amp version of the CR-1000 receiver adding Class A stage. A typical sized amp 435mm wide x 138mm high x 323mm deep if 360mm Max Depth inc fittings. Needs good ventilation if using Class A mode. THE AMP ITSELF WEIGHS ABOUT 16KG
